Whenever you learn a new word in German, learn its gender at the same time! This will make life so much easier for you later on. For instance, if you learn the German word for book, which is Buch, always learn and repeat it by including its article, e.g. when studying or taking notes on new vocabulary always say das Buch instead of just Buch. German articles and pronouns in the genitive and dative cases directly indicate the actions of owning and giving without needing additional words (indeed, this is their function), which can make German sentences appear confusing to English-speaking learners. Look up Artikel in the German learner's dictionary! Includes dictionary, usage examples, pronunciation function, synonyms and additional vocabulary features.
